Angry Crab Shack Closes Out 2023 With an Emphasis on Community Impact Reaching Total Donations of Nearly $1.5M to Local OrganizationsMesa, AZ  (RestaurantNews.comAngry Crab Shack was founded by Ron Lou in 2013, and ever since then the core value of giving back to the community has been instilled in the brand. Now ten years and 22 locations later the brand remains committed to giving back to various local charities with contributions reaching nearly $1.5M. In 2023 Angry Crab Shack again worked with long term charity partners Phoenix Children’s Hospital and the Arizona Housing Coalition, among others.

Since 2018, Angry Crab Shack has sponsored various events for Phoenix Children’s Hospital in an effort to raise funds and help ease the burden of families whose children are receiving treatment at the hospital. In 2023 staff from Angry Crab Shack volunteered at Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation’s annual Give-A-Thon, Golf Tournament and Telethon, participated in their Miles that Matter fundraiser and Ignite Hope events, among others. In November, Angry Crab Shack came together to host a Monthly Birthday Party to bring some joy to kids who were celebrating their birthday in the hospital. The party was complete with treats, snacks, face painting, dancing, and pizza. Finally, Angry Crab Shack provided gift certificates to the hospital staff and meal vouchers for Holiday meals. In total, this year Angry Crab Shack raised and donated a total of $300K to the hospital, with a total of nearly $1.1M in donations made since 2018.

Angry Crab Shack has also been a charitable partner of the Arizona Veteran Standdown Alliance for seven years. This program is part of the Arizona Housing Coalition and provides supportive services to veterans experiencing housing instability. Every year, throughout the month of July, Angry Crab Shack hosts the “You Dine We Donate” campaign benefitting the organization. Angry Crab Shack donates 25 cents for every guest that dines at one of their restaurants, and donates a portion of proceeds from t-shirt and select beverage sales. This year’s campaign raised $100K to help veterans’ housing needs, putting the restaurant chain over $350K in donations to this organization since 2017.

“Making a positive impact on the communities we serve has always been something we value here at Angry Crab Shack, and it has been an honor to have a hand in raising money for so many wonderful organizations in our backyard this year,” said Andy Diamond, President of Angry Crab Shack. “There is no greater joy than seeing the impact of our efforts helping to ease the burden families have faced at Phoenix Children’s Hospital over the years. It has also been wonderful to continue to support and say thank you to our nation’s veterans, and we are looking forward to helping make a difference for years to come.”

In addition to its community impact efforts, Angry Crab Shack will continue to build value in the brand in 2024 by expanding menu options for its guests, enhancing its one-of-a-kind dine-in experience, implementing new marketing initiatives to assist its Franchise Partners in strengthening their businesses, and opening new restaurants in new markets.
