A detail in a photo of a “low carbon” McDonald’s store in China has left the internet stunned – with social media users declaring: “We need this”.
The photo in question was taken at the Macca’s restaurant in Jieyang Wanda Plaza in China’s Guangdong Province.

The restaurant is China’s first “low carbon life experience store”, according to McDonald’s in China.
A closer look reveals the fast-food outlet features tables attached to stationary bicycles that foodies can pedal while they eat.
McDonald’s describes the addition in a rather more grandiose way.
“The store is innovatively equipped with the nation’s first environmentally friendly rechargeable bicycles, allowing more consumers to learn about and participate in green and low-carbon initiatives in a practical way,” the restaurant chain says.
The bicycles are made from plastic recycling and by pedalling them, customers can “convert kinetic energy into electrical energy… and charge mobile phones wirelessly”.
After footage of the bicycles in action was shared to social media, the internet responded with shock.
“This is like using your phone while charging,” one commenter wrote.
“Only order water and workout for an hour,” another joked.
“We need this,” one fan wrote simply, while another added: “This concept is amazing.”
Another said: “This feels illegal to exist.”
