A new lagoon-side restaurant in Melbourne’s first surf park offers a gentler, coastal-inspired take on industrial design.

Local practice Pattern Studio designed the interiors, mixing exposed concrete, bricks and metal pipes with wooden furniture and partitions. Timber panelling also helps take the edge off the vast warehouse-like space.

The Melbourne restaurant is the fifth Three Blue Ducks to open in Australia, and is located inside the Urbnsurf sports park in Tullamarine.

Stools line up at long counters surrounded by local greenery – much of which is used in the kitchen. Three Blue Ducks’ menu includes a long list of hearty breakfast food, as well as oysters, ceviche, mussels and fish of the day, to further emphasise the beach-side atmosphere.
