Know a dad that needs some extra love this Father’s Day? Table by Canberra Gourmet is sharing the love during lockdown, with free meals.

With thousands of Canberrans still affected by the ACT lockdown, Table by Canberra Gourmet is honouring dads who may be struggling this Father’s Day by giving away 50 free meals.

Consisting of marinated and grilled Chicken Inasal served with stir-fry bihon noodles, and garlic rice, Chef Thomas Heinrich hopes the meals will offer a little bit of hope during a turbulent time.

“There’s going to be a lot of fathers out there who are really struggling financially with all the problems about lockdown and we just want to help them,” he says.

“I remember last year when we were in the lockdown, we were laid off from work and it was just a very difficult time. This year we’re in a bit of a better situation with our own business.”

“We want to help people less fortunate than ourselves.”

To nominate a struggling dad, simply head over to the Table by Canberra Gourmet website tomorrow (Wednesday 1 September) and register.

Thomas says that any father that has been struggling is encouraged to apply.

“Anybody that’s in a situation that’s lost their job or their hours have been cut down or maybe they’re just dealing with relationship issues at home with the lockdown and what it causes mentally,” he says.

“If your a father who’s lost his job, there’s no way you can go out for a Father’s Day meal or order anything or even get a present.”

Once the lucky dads are chosen, on Friday 3 September from 4 pm until 5 pm, they can head to Table by Canberra Gourmet and pick up a nice warm meal to enjoy.
